Frank Russo

Frank Russo is the interim athletic director and head track & field coach for Archbishop Moeller High School.

Prior to Moeller, Coach Russo was the head track & field/cross country coach at LaSalle HS, from 1983-2018. During that time, he led the programs to 28 GCL titles (8 XC; 20 T&F); 28 district titles (10 XC; 18 T&F); 11 regional titles (7 XC; 4 T&F); 6 State runner-up (5 XC; T&F ‘08); (4) State championships (XC ’05,’06; T&F ’94, ’11). He later led Edgewood to their first boys SWOC track & field championship and advanced both the boys’ and girls’ programs to the state championship appearance, and while athletic director at Trotwood Madison HS, saw the 2019 boys’ basketball and football programs win state championships.

He is in the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame and the Greater Cincinnati Running Hall of Fame and is a member of the class of 2009 LaRosa’s Sports Hall of Fame., and since 2011, has been a member of the nationally recognized Brooks “ID” Coach program.

Russo is a 1979 alumnus of Colerain High School, where he led the cross country program to the school’s first State Championship. Upon graduation, competed in track and cross country at The Ohio State University, and was the 1982 captain of the Buckeyes cross country team. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Miami University and a master’s degree in sports administration from Xavier University.
