Dr. Robert Pettit


Dr. Robert Pettit is a Cincinnati native and is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with a specialization in sports medicine. Dr. Pettit is trained in ACL reconstruction, cartilage restoration, meniscal allograft transplantation, knee osteotomies, mako robotic knee arthroplasty, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, and shoulder arthroplasty.
His special interest lies in knee and shoulder preservation techniques to delay or avoid joint replacement in young active patients. Dr. Pettit is also certified in Mako robotic-assisted knee and partial knee replacements.
He completed his Bachelor’s in Biology from Ohio State, medical degree from Cincinnati, and Orthopaedic residency at OSU Wexner Medical Center. He has received several awards including the OSU College of Medicine House Staff Humanism Award for his exceptional attributes.
Dr. Pettit completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious Beth Israel New England Baptist Hospital (affiliated with Harvard and Tufts academic programs).
Dr. Pettit is a team physician for the Cincinnati Reds, Florence Y’alls, Clark Montessori, and local high schools. He has published clinical research on ACL reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and shoulder replacement in high-impact journals and has presented at national and international conferences.
While in Boston, he served as an assistant team physician for the Boston Celtics, New England Free Jacks (Rugby), and the Merrimack Warriors Division 1 teams. He had the opportunity to care for numerous professional and intercollegiate athletes, and was trained under the supervision of head team physicians for various professional and collegiate organizations.
