Dr. George Harne


A widely respected and accomplished scholar of music history and the liberal arts, Dr. George Harne was appointed the fourth president of Christendom College in 2024. He earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University and received master’s degrees from Princeton, St. John’s College, and the University of Washington. His scholarly work has focused primarily on medieval music theory and topics related to liberal education.
A convert to the Catholic faith, Dr. Harne is a passionate proponent of Catholic education influenced by the works of Newman, Pieper, Plato, Aristotle, Pope St. John Paul II, and Pope Benedict XVI. His previous positions include Executive Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences for the University of St. Thomas in Houston and President of Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts.
