Sat, Feb 7 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm
St. Boniface, Northside
1750 Chase Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223

All veterans, active-duty military, and their families and friends are invited to the 52nd annual Four Chaplains Mass honoring the memory of the four Army first lieutenant chaplains–Catholic priest Fr. John P. Washington, Methodist minister Rev. George L. Fox, Rabbi Alexander D. Goode, and Reformed Church in America minister Rev. Clark V. Poling) — who helped soldiers into lifeboats and gave up their own life jackets after the U.S. Dorchester on Feb. 23, 1943, in one of the worst naval disasters in American history.

Also called the ‘Immortal Chaplains” and the “Dorchester Chaplains,” each was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (second only to the Medal of Honor).

St. Boniface honors these brave chaplains and their heroic sacrifice every year with this special Mass including a military color guard, patriotic hymns, a candle service, ringing of a ship’s bell, and the playing of “Taps.”
