Advent Lessons and Carols at St. Gertrude, Madeira

Part of the St. Gertrude Music Series

In celebration of the Advent season, the St. Gertrude Novitiate Choir and the Schola Cantorum will  present a contemplative service of readings that trace salvation history until the birth of Christ, interspersed with powerful musical meditations from the Church’s treasury of sacred music for Advent.

Experience the timeless tradition of Advent Lessons and Carols with the Schola Cantorum, one of the United States’s few choral foundations to pair children’s treble voices with professional adult singers in the European cathedral tradition. Throughout the service, the Novitiate Choir of Dominican brothers chants the great “O” Magnificat Antiphons of Advent.
