Solemn Rorate Mass at Old St. Mary’s

This votive Mass, an old European tradition in Advent, begins in candlelight before sunrise and ends with the church filled with sunlight. The name comes from the words “Rorate caeli”  (‘Drop down, ye heavens’), which begin Isaiah 15:8.
