“Missa Nocte” Sunday Evening Candlelit Mass at St. Susanna

St. Susanna holds a Candlelight Mass at 8:00pm on the 2nd Sunday of each month, October through April, called Missa Nocte (“Night Mass”).

Missa Nocte intends to facilitate a greater reverence and solemnity for the Mass, providing a beautiful, calm environment for meditation and contemplation. It will be celebrated by candlelight and ad orientem (which means everyone, including the priest, will face the same direction during some parts of the Mass). There will also be an emphasis on the treasury of the Church’s Sacred Music (Gregorian chant and polyphony). Before Missa Nocte begins, some of these aspects will be briefly explained to better acquaint those who have never experienced them.
