St. Susanna holds a series of Masses at 8:00pm on the 2nd Sunday of each month, called Missa Nocte (“Night Mass”).
Missa Nocte intends to facilitate a greater reverence for the Mass, providing a beautiful, calm environment for meditation and contemplation. The next Missa Nocte will be presided by Fr. Jergens on Sunday, April
14th at 8:00pm.
It is celebrated by candlelight, ad orientem (meaning everyone, including the priest, faces the same direction during some parts of the Mass), with an emphasis on the treasury of the Church’s Sacred Music (Gregorian chant and polyphony). For many, this Mass will be a totally new experience of the rich heritage and spirituality of the Catholic Church, as was covered in our parish’s class on the Mass, and as envisioned by the Second Vatican Council.
