Background: Sept. 14th  is the Feast Day of the Exultation of the Holy Cross, to honor the day when St. Helena, in 326AD, found the holy cross in Jerusalem.

Why #1: Veneration of the Holy Cross and Private & Public Penance, plus camaraderie among men & sons.

Why #2: Camaraderie among men & sons.

Who: Able-bodied Catholic men and their sons (~ +10 years old)
– Wives, daughters, and other female relatives encouraged to attend High Mass following the March

Where: downtown Cincinnati (from OTR to Mt. Adams, then return to OTR)

Clothing: dress dignified worthy of Christ The King.
– no shorts
– no sports jerseys
– no political signs.

Bring: rosary. Optional: Catholic banners, crucifixes, statues, shroud or holy name photos

Procession details: 
– 3.3 miles, to be walked at a normal pace
– 70 mins of walking, incl. Mt. Adams Holy Cross steps
– includes some hills & steps
Parking:
Don’t park in the Old St. Mary’s lots, they are needed for 7:30am Mass
Public parking available in the area, Ziegler Garage, etc. Don’t take parking away from the 7:30am OSM mass-goers.)
Consider carpooling
Timeline:
– 7:15-7:25 am Assemble at Old St. Marys, at East 123 13th St.
– 7:30 am: Start procession at sunrise. Pray rosary (1.9 miles, 40 minutes)
– 8:00 am: Climb steps at Holy Cross Immaculata
– 8:10-8:40 am: Pray inside Holy Cross-Immaculata Church, Venerate relic of Holy Cross, confessions & hymns
– 8:40-9:10 am: Process back to Old St. Mary’s. Rosary & hymns (1.2 miles, 30 minutes)
– 9:15 am: Return any sacramentals into car
– 9:30-10:45am Solemn High Mass, at Old St. Mary’s, with wives & children
