To help families and the elderly stay cool this summer, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is asking for donations of a fan, new window air conditioner or money to support the annual fan drive. This year’s goal is to collect 500 fans and 100 air conditioners.  Monetary donations will be accepted at all Huntington Bank locations and any of the six St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores through August 10.   

July 7th

July 12th
Joan Rosenhauer, associate director of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development, will articulate the message of the U.S. bishops' landmark document “ Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship” Sat. July 19th-25th
The Sisters of the Precious Blood invite single women and men ages 18 to 35 to be part of a Summer Ministry Week in Appalachia July 19 through 25. Participants will work with the sisters in a variety of projects at St. Joseph the Worker Mission, Elkhorn City, Ky., The program is limited to 15 participants. July 19th-20th
Young people from throughout Ohio and Michigan will converge on the grounds of Lehman High school in Sidney, Ohio, for a U.S. version of the 23rd World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia. The archdiocesan observance for youth and young adults, held July 19 and 20, will feature a live video feed from Sydney, speakers, music, Mass with visiting priests and bishops, Reconciliation and Adoration. July 25th to Aug 2nd
The 22nd annual Bible Institute will be held at Xavier University for nine days, from July 25th to Aug 2nd.  This year’s theme is “You will be clothed with power from on high”.  There are 20 daytime seminars covering a variety of spiritual topics.  The cost is a free will donation. On going events

Are you caring, full or part time for an adult family member? During March, a variety of free talks by professionals on care giving issues will be offered throughout the area by the Caregiver Assistance Network of Catholic Social Services. For information call the Caregiver Care line at 513- 929-4483.

OLHSC is offering an adult Bible study and a weekly pre-school program.  The adult bible study is based on Our Father’s Plan by Dr Scott Hahn.  Praying and playing will center on the Liturgical year appropriate for pre-school children. Meetings are Thursdays from 10-11am.  For information call 513-351-9800.

Start the New Year by helping the Caregiver Assistance Network to provide help for caregivers.  Volunteers are needed as support group facilitators throughout the area.  Training is provided.  For more information call Gene at 513-241-7745 ext 533.

RSVP is a new program of Catholic Social Services that provides those 55 and older the opportunity to apply their life experience to meeting community needs.  Activities include mentoring at-risk youth, tutoring elementary school children, teaching English to immigrants and lending your business skills.  To enroll as a volunteer or learn more about RSVP call 513-241-7745 or email to rsvp@cssdoorway.org.  (c-s-s-doorway.org)
